Accessibility is a critical aspect to take into account when developing applications, but a lot of times is overlooked, and we as developers tend to do the bare minimum required to comply, so maybe if we understood the importance of this matter we would take more into our hands to make our applications accessible for everyone.

So this is a humble contribution to this subject, hopefully, after reading this article we’ll understand a bit more about accessibility and what we can do to improve it in our apps.

What is Accessibility?

Accessibility in software development means ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, can access and use your application. This encompasses a wide range of users, from those with visual or hearing impairments to those with motor disabilities.

According to Mozilla’s Developer Network, accessibility is the practice of making your websites usable by as many people as possible. We traditionally think of this as being about people with disabilities, but the practice of making sites accessible also benefits other groups such as those using mobile devices, or those with slow network connections.
